I don't think we're blowing it. We're just not all that good. You can't win with guys like Brandon Knight and Jon Niese and Zombie Pedro taking turns in the rotation, and no closer, and no Moises, and Luis Castillo embezzling $6 million a year. Look at the Phillies last night; they are hitting on every cylinder, scoring runs at will. They are really good. They have the third-best run-differential in baseball. Give 'em some credit.

I wasn't the one saying 7 days ago was the norm. You're kind of making my point. Run-differential is a pretty good indication of overall quality of play over the long term. We're -25 to the Phils in that department, which is about right in terms of relative strengths of the two teams. They are about 2.5 to 3 games better, which is probably where it will shake out.

The way I figure it, the Phillies are going to go 8-3 the rest of the way. This means we have to go 9-3 to tie and maybe get the division on a tie breaker. In other words, no more losses to the Nats, and only 1 each for the Braves, Marlins, and Cubs.
