Faith!
You know you're gonna live through the rain
Lord you got to keep the faith
Now you know is not too late
Oh you got to keep the faith
Faith!
Don't let your love turn to hate
Right now we got to
Keep the faith!
Keep the faith!
Keep the faith!
Lord we got to keep the faith
Fear is out of here for the duration.
Nothing but Faith in Flushing.

Greg, I hope you never decide to use your powers for evil. Because I would follow you into battle, sir. I would drink the kool-aid.

So we're down 3-2 in the post-season, coming back to Shea for Game 6.
Game 6. I like the sound of that. Game 6. Yeah. Here's hoping Mookie Wilson throw out the first pitch, and Bill Buckner is charged with a passed ball trying to catch it. LET'S GO METS! Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)

I'll be in what's become my customary post-season perch: Picnic area, left-field bleachers, section 54, row N, seat 11 or 12 (depending on where my father wants to sit).

If anyone has an upset stomach this morning and needs to purge, don't bother sticking your finger down your throat to get things going. Nope, just head over to espn.com and read Jayson Starks nonsensical, moronic, and absolute shat piece on how the Cards are on the verge of something historical.
Historical? Are you fucking kidding me? Since when is it history for one division winner to beat another divison winner who just so happens to be missing two starters and a left fielder? If there is a god two things will happen: 1. The Mets will win the next two games 2. I will meet up with Jayson Stark some day and channel Ray Guy as I kick him in the balls Lucky for us we have a great team with much better pitching depth coming home to win two games so we don't need god for part 1. Might need him for part 2 I'm afraid though. -SJG$ Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)

You had me until the Bon Jovi quote.
What on earth was wrong with "Show a little faith, there's magic in the night?" (Which is basically what BJ took 12 lines to say, poorly) Re: Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)
Bon Jovi ain't a beauty, but that song is all right.
Nevertheless, a little magic in the night is not an unfamiliar phenomenon in these parts. No surrender, while we're at it. Re: Re: Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)

Not to mention pulling out of that town full of losers and preparing to prove it all night (something we have a good deal of experience with). Mister, I believe in the Promised Land.

These days I can't tell my courage from my desperation.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)
Come on up for the Rising. Come on up lay your hands in mine. Come on up for the Rising. Come on up for the Rising tonight.
La la la la la la la la, lala, la la la la la la la, lala. That song always kind of annoyed me until I realized 30 seconds ago it's both our theme song and the greatest song ever. Also, not to throw Bon and Boss into the same category, but "Livin' on a Prayer" wouldn't have been entirely inappropriate. LET'S GO METS! Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)

Oddly appropriate, since that song seems to contradict itself claiming that "it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not" but "we'll make it I swear." I suppose that's true.

Boo-hoo-hoo, we're missing 2 pitchers and a .240-hitting LF. You don't hear the Cards weeping about Mulder and Isringhausen, do you? Or about Rolen and Edmonds and Pujols being banged up.
Enough excuses, it's time to strap up and bring it tonight. LETS GO METS!!!! Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)

Thought about this today...
Historically, on balance, game 6's have been pretty good to our boys: 1969 -- There wasn't one 1973 -- Hunter bests Seaver 3-1 (0-1) 1986 -- NLCS: We all know about this one (1-1) 1986 -- World Series : We all know about this one, too (2-1) 1988 -- NLCS: David Cone tosses a nifty 5-hitter to keep things going (3-1) 1999 -- NLCS: We all know about this one, three (3-2) 2000 -- There wasn't one So in 5 game 6's, we've had 2 historic wins, 1 historic loss and 1 of each regular variety. The odds are in our favor. LET'S GO METS! Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)

Greg,
Thanks for the lyrical inspiration, but my tastes don't run to Bon Jovi. I prefer a little pop music from the mid-80's. I loved the mid-80's. Faith No Fear (sung to the tune of “Faith” by George Michael) Well I know it’d be nice If we could make the Series I know this year was eerie But now it just feels right And we gotta win twice Before we get the pennant done And I know all the games we’ve won Don’t matter tonight Oh but I Need five innings from two more starters Some time to pick this team up off the floor In ’86 we had Mex and Mookie And Straw and Carter We've got the the will to win tonight We’ll show the Cards the door 'Cause we gotta have faith We gotta have faith We gotta have faith We gotta have faith FAITH FAITH Willlie I know we’re losing, two to three But please, please, please, just win for me I think we can, don’t you? Maybe We’ll all be ready now to play Won’t blow the games, cause we’re at Shea And you know Games 6 and 7 are ours, it’s true Before this series Becomes the Series We’re not scared to throw our hearts back on the floor To think we’ll lose is A foolish notion Cause we need someone to cheer for We can’t ask for nothing more Yes we've gotta have faith... We gotta have faith We gotta have faith We gotta have faith FAITH FAITH Re: Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)

Let's Produce Some Runs
Oh ye of little faith.
What did Lewis say to Clark When everything looked bleak? What did Sir Edmund say to Tenzing As they struggled toward Everest's peak? What did Washington say to his troops As they crossed the Delaware? I'm sure you're well aware... (What'd they say?) We can do it, we can do it We can do it, me and you We can do it, we can do it We can make our dreams come true Everything you've ever wanted Is just waiting to be had Beautiful girls, wearing nothing but pearls Caressing you, undressing you And driving you mad We can do it, we can do it This is not the time to shirk We can do it, you won't rue it Say goodbye to petty clerk Hi, producer: yes, producer I mean you, sir, go beserk! We can do it, we can do it And I know it's gonna work We can do it We can do it We can grab that holy grail! We can do it We can do it Drink champagne, not ginger ale! We can do it! We can do it! We can do it! I know it cannot fail! Re: Let's Produce Some Runs

I took the liberty of doing some research for the other side. The Cards have lost consecutive games a total of 40 times this season.

41 times, you say?
Well, how's that for an omen! Re: Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)
Outstanding work.
62...41...two Mets numbers if ever I saw them. Faith! Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)
I've never met any of you, but my big orange and blue heart is filled with love for each and every one of you. We've come this far together. It's not going to end tonight. As far as I'm concerned, this blog is incontrivertible proof of the spiritual properties of the internet, which is not something I ever thought I'd believe in.
If anyone needs some online communion during the game, IM me. My screen name is Whamalamdingdong. Maybe we can have a chatroom of the faithful. Re: Re: Faith in Flushing (Fear Strikes Out)
